The Dominican republic is the most stable country of the three, in terms of violence and political unrest. Also, one can hop on a plane in the morning and be ministering in the D. R. in the afternoon. This country has my vote. After all, poverty is poverty no matter where it is.
I was the youth director @ trinity for 2 1/2 years and took a group to Jamaica. I felt a great deal of responsibility for the fact that I was taking other people's children to a different country. Even in Jamaica one of our vans got stopped by several police officers branding machine guns. My daughter also traveled to India twice and encountered many dangerous situations. So I understand and have accepted the fact that there are risks involved with any trip. However, no one ever on either one of those trips purposely went towards the most dangerous circumstances, they just happened in the coarse of ministry. That all being said I think it is one thing to be willing to take extreme risks personally as adults but it is another thing to take unnecessary risks with other people's children. We should pick the safest country possible.
